About Prioto

We started Prioto because there was too much guessing.

We are a Glasgow software company that got interested in buildings — and found that almost nobody was measuring them properly.

Our story

The gap between the estimate and the measurement.

Prioto began in 2023 with an observation that kept recurring: the tools sold to help organisations cut energy and carbon were mostly working from archetypes or point-in-time data. Tell them the building's age, size and type, and they would return a number for what a building like that ought to use, and what a retrofit ought to save.

Then reality would be different. Not by a little — in some settings the real opportunity was several times what the model had predicted, in others the upgrades never paid for themselves, and in some cases energy usage climbed.

So we measured instead. We built the instrumentation to measure a building minute by minute, and the analytics to tell a genuine anomaly from an ordinary Tuesday, to help organisations make decisions based on empirical data not wishes.

The people who built Prioto have run software businesses, advised on technology risk for the Big 4, delivered infrastructure for some of the largest global events, and spent decades installing the mechanical and electrical systems we now measure. That last part matters more than it sounds: it is why the install is light-touch and low cost, and why the findings are ones an engineer can act on.
